American, born in Boston 1951. She studied at Pilchuk Glass School of Design specialising in glass.

It was in Italy in 1983 that she discovered her cultural roots and a visit to Ghana greatly enlivened her palette and gave her the idea of cresting art from glass threads. Having acquired glass canes, in the beginning she stretched them by hand, but later used a machine ideally suited to this purpose.

With endless patience she arranges the threads on a plaster support, allowing her sense of colour to have total free play with shades and tints. After being heated in a kiln the resulting glass texture is slumped into a mould and the final trimming done by hand whilst the glass is still hot. The result is highly seductive like a sophisticated tapestry.

From 1973 onwards she has exhibited extensively in highly successful one-person and group shows to great critical acclaim. She is represented by work in most major museum collections of glass.
